BOOM! BOOM!

Chris and I awoke this morning to the sound (and vibration) of the space shuttle's sonic boom as it reentered the earth's atmosphere. It immediately took me back to my childhood when the shuttle landed in Southern California more often. It's weird; even though you weren't actually there, the shuttle's sonic boom was a sensory event that allowed you to share in the experience.

Welcome back, Discovery!

  2. I didn't hear anything either, which is strange cause I usually wake up for loud noises.

  3. For those of you who don't read "Aimee In Chaos", I thought I share this comment that I posted there...

Actually, you shouldn't feel bad. According to AP, "NASA adjusted the flight path in order to skirt Los Angeles because of new safety considerations in the wake of the Columbia disaster, which rained debris onto Texas and Louisiana." I, however, live in the boonies, about an hour or less from Mojave (where the shuttle landed) so I guess there was no avoiding the Trillo Ranch.
