Four Alarm

Nothing will knock you out of bed faster than a call from you neighbor informing you that there's a fire next door.

Before I go on...I'm blogging right now; so you can safely assume the fire is out and we're all safe 'n' sound.

We received the call from the Tuckers at 5:30am. There was a fire next door...yes, at that neighbors house. I'm sure you all know the one -- the encampment of trailers and vehicles. To be honest, while it is a bit of an eyesore, I feel we all move out here for a bit of freedom to express ourselves. Plus, I know they're working to get themselves "up on their feet" so you can expect things to be a little less perfect in the process.

Well, I guess, they had an empty trailer and a spider web of electrical cords, which ignited this morning. After we go the call, Chris and I quickly got dressed and got to work. Chris got the tractor and headed next door with hopes to keep the fire contained and far from our property. I loaded Parker in the car and (with Frankie temporarily corraled in the backyard) began unloading our house of the essential items -- pictures, computers, and the few other irreplaceable items. Luckily, another neighber, the O'Neils saw the fire and help me load the cars.

At 6:45am I got another call from Chris..."You can stop loading the cars. There's four fire trucks here and the fire's completely out."

Good news. But, just in case, I've left everything in the cars...for now. In a couple of hours, I'll start unloading and putting everything back inside.

Hope you all had a less eventful morning.
