Glad to see I'm not the only one Piper like to poke while drinking her bottle.

Also glad to see that I'm not the only one who let's her put her finger in their mouth and probe around. :o)

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!Happy Halloween!Happy Halloween!Happy Halloween!Happy Halloween!
This year we celebrated Halloween in Tehachapi with Gram. That means the kids got to go trick-or-treating with their cousins.

Piper was a monkey (can't let a good costume go to waste!). Parker was Scooby-Doo (this is the first year he got to choose his costume). Carli was a cat. (No, Scooby was a gentleman dog and didn't chase Carli around all night.) And Josephine was a suffragette. (She recently finished a book on famous women and would have been Amelia Earhart -- but her friend already snagged the idea.)

Tehachapi was a great place to trick-or-treat. Lots of houses in the holiday spirit. A lot of people got nostalgic when they saw Scooby (which is always good for the candy haul). Even better, the kids got to share the fun with Gram and Grandpa (who are also very good for the candy haul).

Chris's Aunt Jean and Uncle Al came down to visit Chris' mom, which means Piper and Parker got to meet their GREAT-aunt and uncle.

Piper looks serious in this pic but have no fear she did demonstrate that she was a cheery handful. :o) No shyness here.

Happy Dad's Day

Happy Dad's DayHappy Dad's DayHappy Dad's DayHappy Dad's DayHappy Dad's Day
So Father's Day started out with a huge trust ceremony between Chris and Parker. At least that's what I guess it was. Otherwise, I'm not sure why Chris allowed a 4 year old to shave his face with a real razor. Luckily, no major vessels were severe. Chris finished the task as Parker used a tongue scraper to ''shave'' his face. Yeah, not sure it that will be going back in my mouth.

Later, we headed over to Tehachapi to celebrate Father's Day with Chris' father and the rest of his family. That means paved roads and sidewalks! Time to break out the scooter. Whoa! Whoa! Whoa there buddy! Don't forget the helmet and the padding. You can't be too careful...even with a scooter. (I know. I know. We didn't have any of this safety stuff when we were kids. But when we were kids, slides were made of shiny metal that headed to 100+ degrees in the daytime. And then think of our parents, they rode in cars without carseats. All I'm saying is can you imaging what our grandkids are going to look like while they're having fun? Pretty freaking awesome -- with an emphasis on ''freak''!)

It was Piper's first Easter and she loved it almost as much as Parker, who did pretty well at the Easter Egg Hunt...with a little help from Grandpa.

Esther, You Will Be Missed

A couple weeks ago, Esther was hospitalized for pneumonia. Unfortunately, her health took a turn for the worse and she passed away on March 29th.

Today, the family got together to honor her memory. She was definitely a unique personality; someone truly unforgettable. If you every saw her with her husband Gerry, you would also know that she is someone who knew true love and was more than willing to share it with everyone, especially her nieces and nephews.

We're sad that you left us so quickly, Esther. You will be missed.

When Trillos come together, a little air guitar is inevitable. And with Eric leading the charge, yeah, can you hear ''Margaritaville'' coming through in this picture?

Happy Birthday Carli!

Carli's BirthdayCarli's BirthdayCarli's BirthdayCarli's BirthdayWe headed over to Tehachipi to celebrate Carli's birthday. As usual, Parker took a little time to warm up to everyone. (Arriving late didn't help either.) But on the bright side, it gave him a chance to find some one-on-one time with the birthday girl, not to mention Grandpa.

The Party Continues

The Party ContinuesThe Party ContinuesThe Party ContinuesThe Party Continues
So, we figured for Parker's 4th birthday, we'd do a big party -- one where we invite all his friends from daycare. That said, we couldn't have it at the house; I mean who's really going to drive their kid that far for a party? So, as I mentioned in an earlier entry, we decided to have his party at the Kidspace Children's Museum in Pasadena.

What a great place for a party. Not only do the families get to go to the museum before (and after, if it were still open) the party for ''free''. But they have people running the party, keeping things fun and entertaining for the kids. I love it! And so did the kids. They got to see and learn about turtles and tarantulas. Plus they got to play the kiddie party favorite -- parachute game -- plus an cruise ship favorite -- limbo. How low can you go?!

The best part, no clean up! :o)

What would St. Patrick's Day be without the races?

BC, Aimee, Geof, Larry, Pete, Ravi and Chris' mom joined us this year.

The big winner? Larry who hit the trifecta in the last (or was it next to last) race.

The big loser? Hey, when friends get together there is no loser. :o) At least that's what I tell myself to make me feel better.

2008, A look back

Well, it looks like I hit my resolution of out blogging 2007. With 163 entries, I even out blogged 2006! Currently, I also seem to be on track to out blog 2008. ROCK ON!

I did end 2008 heavier than I started it...but then I am pregnant. At a current weight of 188 , I guess the important thing is to end 2009 considerably lighter than how I started it.

I would say a few highlights from last year would include:

  • Burns Night: Nothing better then having your baby rocking out in a bar!
  • Pouring the Slab: The stalled shed project takes off again!
  • The Road Ahead: New year, new job!
  • What's Wrong With This Picture?: This maybe more of a lowlight but one can't forget the car accident Parker and I had last year that total the Saturn.
  • Happy Birthday, Paarrrrker!: Parker turns 3!
  • New Car: With the totaled car comes the new car.
  • Death Valley Birthdaze: Parker's first camping trip and he loved it!
  • Project Garden: Parker's garden was a total success -- providing pounds of delicious tomatoes, herbs (some of which are still hanging in there even after our recent bout of snow!), and even a couple of pumpkins!
  • Welcome Dean: Dean joins the Trillo household. I can't believe how small he used to be!
  • Go Baby, Go!: Official confirmation that Parker would soon have a little sibling!
  • Baby's First Scan: Our first look at Piper!
  • It's Time!: Parker ditches the diapers
  • Morro Bay: Great family get-away to Morro Bay. Hopefully, it will become an annual tradition.
  • Palin and Clinton on SNL: This isn't Trillo related but you've gotta love Tina Fey as Sarah Palin.
  • Halloween 2008: How could Halloween NOT be a highlight, especially with Parker dressed as Woody.
  • Yes We Can!: I was obsessed with the entire campaign but the most important thing is that the right man -- Barack Obama -- was elected as President.
  • Snow Days: Everyone (at least hear in Acton) will be talking about the show of 2008 for years. It was totally awesome! Glad to have been stuck at home rather than stuck unable to get home (like Chris...but that worked to his advantage as he was able to NOT miss any work)
  • Sledding: And of course, Tahoe is always a highlight.

Christmas Eve

Christmas EveChristmas EveChristmas EveChristmas Eve
Today was my last day of work. Then, we headed up to Tehachapi to meet up with the rest of the Trillos. Think a family of 6 kids and their families intersecting and, as you can probably expect, chaos ensues. However, the craziness is fun, as always. And, to add to the frenzy, we have to leave early so we can start our trip up north to San Francisco. Tally ho!

Thanksgiving 2008

ThanksgivingThanksgivingThanksgivingThanksgiving
ThanksgivingThis Thanksgiving we spent the holiday with Chris' family up in Tehachapi. Another opportunity for great company, delicious food, and, yes, Parker to go absolutely crazy. Actually, he behaved himself pretty well. I don't think he annoyed his cousins too much. The evening ended with some live music courtesy of the kids table.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Santa Barbara

Santa BarbaraSanta BarbaraSanta Barbara
On the way home we stopped in Santa Barbara for lunch. We hit a casual eatery on the pier and Parker got an introduction to peanuts still in the shell. The first one probably wasn't that great because he didn't know he was suppose to shell it. But after extricating the initial peanut remain from his mouth, he had a shelled nut...and loved it. He then proceeded to hoard the nuts, making sure the pigeons didn't get any of his treasure.

After lunch, we continued down the pier to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History: Ty Warner Sea Center. It's small but still pretty cool. Parker got to see a lot of marine creatures up close...and if he chose to (which he didn't), he could touch many of them. I think his favorite were the decorator crabs which pull elements from their surrounding environment to camouflage themselves. To demonstrate this, they had one crab in an aquarium with a ball of red yarn. Unlike the other crabs, that were covered in seaweed and other ocean debris, this one was covered in red fuzz. Totally adorable!

All in all, I would say that three out of three Trillos would agree...this was a great get-away weekend.

So long, Morro Bay!

Morro BayMorro BaySo the next day we had breakfast and then hit the road...but not before we stopped at the pier for last chance sweets. I had to get salt water taffy. Chris got his favorite fudge, penuche. And Parker got a lollipop that was calling to him.
