Just Chillin'

Just Chillin'Just Chillin'Just Chillin'Just Chillin'Just Chillin'
Here's Parker and Piper hanging out at home. I'm really happy that Parker has accepted Piper so readily. Aside from the occasional nibble, he does seem genuinely happy to have her around. But as I'm sure Aimee would say...she so cute, how could he not sneak a little nibble. ;o)

Now if I could just figure out this backbend thing. There's definitely something genetic about this because Parker didn't teach Piper this but she is for some reason compelled to do it. Hmmmm...very curious.

Happy Dad's Day

Happy Dad's DayHappy Dad's DayHappy Dad's DayHappy Dad's DayHappy Dad's Day
So Father's Day started out with a huge trust ceremony between Chris and Parker. At least that's what I guess it was. Otherwise, I'm not sure why Chris allowed a 4 year old to shave his face with a real razor. Luckily, no major vessels were severe. Chris finished the task as Parker used a tongue scraper to ''shave'' his face. Yeah, not sure it that will be going back in my mouth.

Later, we headed over to Tehachapi to celebrate Father's Day with Chris' father and the rest of his family. That means paved roads and sidewalks! Time to break out the scooter. Whoa! Whoa! Whoa there buddy! Don't forget the helmet and the padding. You can't be too careful...even with a scooter. (I know. I know. We didn't have any of this safety stuff when we were kids. But when we were kids, slides were made of shiny metal that headed to 100+ degrees in the daytime. And then think of our parents, they rode in cars without carseats. All I'm saying is can you imaging what our grandkids are going to look like while they're having fun? Pretty freaking awesome -- with an emphasis on ''freak''!)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Yes. My kid is in a room filled with train track and he's playing with the empty box. Not sure if I should be worried that he's still small enough to fit completely in the box or if I should get him enrolled in a magician/illusionist class. Magic Castle...here comes Parker!

Singing in the Rain

So I love it that while watching ''Singing in the Rain'' Parker's compelled to get up and start dancing with the movie.

Then again, it could just be a way for him to get away with playing with his umbrella in the house.

By the end of the movie, though, he gave up on dancing and decided he wanted to ''draw the music.''

Parker demonstrates that to be a Power Ranger you don't need a mask
or tights...you just need the gloves.

And here's the requisite post-bath shot of Piper.

Unlike Parker, she takes to water like a duck so she's pretty chill about the whole experience.

Back in the Box

Parker and his sandboxBusy in the box
Yes, there seems to be a running theme for today. Here's Parker playing in his sandbox.

And then later, he's playing with another box. I tell ya. Who needs to buy toys when the most common things can be sooo amusing.

You know what. I want to encourage the young as much as the next guy. But I've got to wonder sometimes how are I should go, especially when Parker's ''art'' looks more like an execution.

The diabolical smile doesn't help matters, either.

Returning home with the kids, guess what I found at our front door? Yup, this bad boy was stretched in front of the threshold. Luckily, I hadn't let the kids out of the car. Even luckier, Chris was home so I called him over to take care of the problem.

Now, when I think "take care of the problem", I mean safely remove the snake -- even if that means resorting to violence. Evidently, "take care of the problem" to Chris means cuddle up with the reptile.

Obviously, this is not a poisonous snake, nontheless handling it with one's bare hands doesn't come to mind.

Just so you know, momma's little man, Parker, watched from the safety of the car. Smart boy.

Give the boy a camera and this is what you get.

Not too bad if I do say so myself.

Let's see, you've got me with my coffee...classic. Piper lounging around -- what do you expect from a baby. Chris on the couch with his laptop...natural habitat. Snoozing Frankie. And the mystery pic...the inside of a bowl.

Gotcha!And here's the master photographer himself...GOTCHA!

Piper had her first bites of ''real food'' today and she loved it. Even better, my Mom got to partake in the experience. Being the pro, she even got through it without getting any rice cereal on herself. Nice!

This was Piper's first trip to Disneyland. This was also my mom's first trip to Disneyland in about 30 years! Who knows when she'll be back so we had to make the most of the trip. That means fried chicken at the Plaza Inn, a ride on Dumbo with Parker, and a trip on the Astroblasters with Piper.

A first time for all of us, we checked out the Jedi Training Academy. Parker did his darnedest to get it but, in the end, he was just a tad too young. Sorry little dude. Maybe you'll make it on our next trip. In the meantime, a couple light sabres (one for Parker and one for Chris) should make everyone feel better.
